Nintendo cartridge chip maker Macronix plans to exit ROM production
Macronix, a major maker of ROM chips for Nintendo's Switch cartridges, says it plans to drop ROM manufacturing entirely to focus on flash and memory chips. ROM is now only 5% of its business, down from 26% a year ago. That could be a challenge for Nintendo's physical games.
