Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and other games to help you get fit
By John Giacomi
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has not only turned out to be one of my favorite games of all time, but it also turns out to be a great game while walking on a treadmill. I’m somebody who’s struggled with my weight (among other things) in the past, and working in healthy habits to my gaming has been a game changer for me. Years ago, I decided to try and add cardio into my gaming, and below is a list of games that have worked best for me. Adding this to a solid diet and normal weight-lifting has helped me lose over 100lbs, and at 43 Im happier and healthier than Ive ever been in my life. I hope you enjoy!
1. Clair Obscur - Expedition 33:Anyone who's listened to Video Gamers Podcast knows how we feel about it....easily one of the best games of all time. Its engrossing story and turn-based combat lend itself perfectly to walking and gaming. AND ITS ON XBOX GAME PASS!!!
2. Slay the Spire: Another favorite on the pod (and one I never would have known about without the awesdome discord community). This is basically roguelike MTG, and it's possibly the greatest treadmill game of all time from a gameplay perspective. Perfect travel game too.
3. Metal Slug Tactics: For arcade fans out there, take your motley crew out on a tactical RPG romp with all of the trademark over-the-top action the franchise is known for.
4. Halo Wars 2: Polish RTS action (a genre that needs a comeback IMO) with a stylish Halo theme. Underrated game in the franchise and great for walking.
5. Fire Emblem - Engage: A visually stunning, anime based tactical RPG that pushes the Switch's graphics to the max. Plot is basic, and some of the dialogue is cringe, but the gameplay is tactical RPG perfection.
